Teton Mountains

Moose

We were fortunate to see this moose and family near the Snake River.

Bull moose lose their antlers every winter and grow a brand-new set the following spring. These fresh antlers are covered in velvet while they grow

This mother moose had two "teenage" twins with her. Father moose (see previous image) was watching them eat from a near by grove.

Pronghorn

Pronghorn are ungulates (hoofed animals) and related to goats and antelope. They have the body shape of a deer with long legs, short tail, and a long snout. The fur is a reddish-brown color, but it can also be tan or darker brown. Pronghorn have white stripes on their necks and additional white markings on the face, stomach, and rump.

Mount Moran

The mountain is named for Thomas Moran, an American western frontier landscape artist. Mount Moran dominates the northern section of the Teton Range rising 6,000 feet (1,800 m) above Jackson Lake.[4] Several active glaciers exist on the mountain with Skillet Glacier plainly visible on the monolithic east face.
